History:

CRBC began with a vision to see the first distinctly Reformed Baptist Church (holding unashamedly to the Second London Baptist Confession of 1689) in the Charlottesville-Albemarle region of Central Virginia.  Our first Lord’s Day meeting was held on January 3, 2010 at the home of our church planting minister Jeff Riddle in North Garden, Virginia with six households.  We then met in the North Garden Fire House from January through mid-February.  In mid-February we moved into our current meeting space in the Branchlands Professional Center in Charlottesville.  By God’s grace, our attendance has doubled in the first six months of our plant.  We have developed a church membership covenant and church constitution and plan to particularize as a distinct congregation in the Fall of 2010.

Partnership:

Our church plant is working in partnership with Covenant Reformed Baptist Church in Warrenton, Virginia.  Our church planter meets or speaks at least monthly with the pastor and/or elders of that congregation.  Financial reports and updates are also regularly shared with the elders at Covenant RBC.

Doctrine:

We hold unashamedly to the classical theology of the Protestant Reformation including the “doctrines of grace” or the five points of Calvinism (TULIP):

. . .T – Total Depravity (sovereign grace needed)

. . .U – Unconditional Election (sovereign grace conceived)

. . .L – Limited Atonement (sovereign grace merited)

. . .I – Irresistible Grace (sovereign grace applied)

. . .P – Perseverance of the Saints (sovereign grace preserved)

CRBC is an independent congregation.  We do, however, believe in the importance of cooperation, accountability, and fellowship with like-minded churches; therefore, we share in fellowship with sister churches.
