Our History
On the first Lord’s Day of January 2010 a few families gathered in the home of church planter Jeff Riddle to form the Christ Reformed Baptist Church Mission. Our vision was to plant the first Reformed Baptist congregation in Central Virginia, fully committed to the Second London Baptist Confession (1689). In March 2010, we began meeting in an office suite at the Branchlands Professional Building in Charlottesville. In February 2012, we began meeting at the Covenant Lower School in Charlottesville. In February 2015 we began meeting at at our current location, the Bells Grove church in Louisa, Virginia.
We have persons who are members or attendees of our church from Colonial Heights, Richmond, Louisa, Fluvanna, Albemarle, Charlottesville, Waynesboro, and Madison.
Our church plant began in partnership with Covenant Reformed Baptist Church in Warrenton, Virginia. The congregation has slowly but steadily grown. In August 2010 we had our first baptismal service at the Rivanna River with six baptismal candidates. On September 26, 2010 we constituted as a distinct congregation in a Covenant Worship Service with twenty-four founding members. We also affirmed our Confession of Faith (the Second London Confession of Faith [1689]), our Membership Covenant, and our Constitution.
As a new church, we are excited about how the Lord will lead, grow, and use our congregation in the years ahead to proclaim the sovereign grace of God through Christ to Central Virginia.
